I've researched in the 'general dictionary of provincialisms', and 'A glossary of the provincialisms in use in the county of Sussex' and found nothing but it may be in a later book – Third News Jun 24 '14 at   Sweet Disorder, my current WIP, is set in Sussex. As part of my research I read A Glossary of the Provincialisms in Use in the County of Sussex by William Durrant Cooper, first published in I had it printed at Third Place Books on their espresso machine.
